Recap from Arvind Rajan, Co-Chair of MD+:
I think one of the best feelings is getting to build something impactful with people who genuinely care about the same mission. Last weekend, our MD+ executive team came together for our annual offsite in NYC and I left feeling really grateful for and inspired by the people I get to work with.
It's hard to believe I joined this community four years ago right before starting med school, back before I knew much about medicine or tech, let alone where they intersected. Though I remember a feeling of immediate belonging, like the weird side projects I was always working on alongside school suddenly meant something. I talked to countless MD+ members working in this space, and over time, this community is where I learned about what this intersection of medicine and innovation could look like. It's been cool to finally feel like I have a sense of what I want in my career.
Four years later, its a bit surreal to still be involved with the org, but now with the honor of leading it alongside the amazing Emily L. Leventhal. Everyone on this exec team is doing it on top of med school, in between rounds, UWorld questions, research, and the countless other impressive things they do. But that feels pretty core to what MD+ is. The paths and opportunities we care about don't have a jd or a degree, they require a certain type of persona that is willing to think from different angles, figure things out as they go and just get shit done because they actually care. This weekend was a reminder that I have the privilege of working with people like this every day that inspire me.
Thank you Sherman for starting this community in the first place 7 years ago. Having you deeply involved this year has meant a lot, and I'm really grateful for your mentorship.
We left NYC with a lot of ideas already in motion, and I'm excited for the community we'll continue to build together this year.
